I am thrilled to announce that I have been invited to join the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Design Team!
This team is super talented and works so creatively with their adhesives! If you drop by the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L blog, you will see what I mean. Click HERE to check it out.
I'd love for you to stop by there today...I posted this layout and a tutorial video on how I made the beaded wire heart.
I used the beautiful Kaisercraft "Pickled Pear" collection and several of their wood elements. I used these 3 adhesives...
I have been using Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L for years and am looking forward to sharing my love for these products with you :)
I am happy to announce that I have joined the ScrapThat! Design team as their Video Educator ! For those of you new to my blog, let me introduce myself:
Some of you may know me online as "Kelly Creates." I am a Canadian scrapbooker living in Edmonton, Alberta. I'm excited about sharing my designs and techniques with you through my video tutorials!"
May is our three year anniversary and we want to
thank all our subscribers and members for sharing their pages and creations with us!!
We are so excited to share the details about our newest kit
featuring the amazingly gorgeous Prima Divine !!
Here are two layouts I designed with this lovely kit:
I just love this photo of my mom and her friends back in 1953...riding those 'bicycles built for two.' They are on a girls weekend in Banff National Park. And those girls know how to have fun!
A good friend of mine at Canadian Scrapbooker magazine, Connie Nichol is a stellar photographer and took these amazing pics of the birds in her backyard! I thought I would create a layout based on the yearning I have for spring to arrive after this very very long winter.
I also have made a video showing how this second layout came together.
You can click HERE to watch it on YouTube. Later this month I will share another video tutorial to show you how I made those vellum feathers.
We are so thrilled to welcome the talented Scrappy Superstar ~

I have long admired the beautiful photo displays that scrapbookers design to showcase their family photos. Kaisercraft has a number of wonderful photo frames, and I decided to alter their "Swap Card Photo Display."
Click HERE to visit their website and see other finished Photo Displays. The Pickled Pear collection is gorgeous and was perfect for my design...
I chose 3 photos of my children from our Fall photo shoot...
The background is ONE piece of paper...un-cut!
"Pistachio"
And the embellishments are from the Pickled Pear Sticker, along with Kaisercraft black Paper Blooms and Pewter Pearls...
I also used some copper wire and scrap pieces of corrugated cardboard...
I painted the raw frame with Ranger's Claudine Hellmuth Black Gesso. Here is a video tutorial that shows my quick and easy painting technique along with a closer look at the finished tray.
Click HERE to watch this on YouTube and visit my Channel. I love how this turned out...especially because it took no time at all!
Every Saturday on the Kaisercraft blog, they post a new sketch challenge. Here is the second sketch for April from last weekend...
I love this sketch...and thought I'd use Kaisercraft's beautiful "Bundle of Joy" collection for a layout and a card...
I'm hesitant to call this a heritage photo....or a vintage design....because this baby girl is ME!
My mother saved my little dress, and when I had my youngest daughter's 3-month photos taken, I pulled out this dress and she wore it!
Isn't her hair hilarious? It honestly wouldn't go 'down' no matter what I did! But one month after this photo, her hair suddenly lay flat and never stood up like that again.
My baby photo came from my baby scrapbook that my mother made for me when I was a young girl. Here is the first page of my baby album...
That's mom and me in the hospital, the baby announcement my mom mailed out and the pink tag with all my birth stats was on my bassinette in the hospital. That small piece of white tape with writing on it was stuck to my back after birth as additional ID, and the tiny newsprint cut out is my birth announcement from the Edmonton Journal. Isn't this album a treasure! I love my mom.
Now....back to my layout design. For embellishments, I used Kaisercraft pearls and white flowers. I also used some ivory tulle I had in my stash to soften the design...
I also made a card with this collection...
Here is a short video tutorial where I share my layout and card designs and simple techniques with the tulle.

I hope you enjoyed traveling back in time and meeting baby Kelly (who is definitely NOT vintage!)
I think everyone knows by now that I have a fondness for vintage layouts and heritage photos. Lately, I've found myself gravitating towards my mother's scrapbooks, enjoying the beautiful black and white photos, trying to imagine her life "back in the day." The Kaisercraft "75 Cents" collection seemed perfect for this layout...
This is the family my mom rented a room from when she was working as a single woman in a small country town. For the design, I used this wonderful sketch from Sketchbook 365...
Some close-ups...
I layered some stickers, created the fence from strips of paper, and the key is K&Co.
These adorable little clips are Stampin' Up!
I used two alphabet stamp sets: the smaller one is Hero Arts and the other is Graphic 45
Here is a closer look at the roof...
I was inspired by my friend Michelle's birdhouse she recently designed. Click HERE to visit her blog and see her amazing birdhouses. Here is a simple tutorial on how I made my roof:
Cut a triangle roof out of scrap card stock
Cover it with adhesive
Punch scallop edges on strips of paper
Stack up an arrangement of your strips so they will fit on your roof
Layer the strips starting at the roof's bottom edge
Flip over roof and trim strips off along side edges
Gently curl up scallop edges for dimension
It's easy, isn't it? Now you can tell your family and friends that you shingled a roof today!
