What? Another Valentine project this week? Seems I'm on a roll. I wanted to share this simple shaker box card I designed using the Brother ScanNCut machine and BoBunny "Head Over Heels" collection.
Have you made a shaker box card before? I have a 'quick & dirty' technique. ha ha. You know me, always looking for shortcuts. Here is the video that demonstrates how I created the card. You can also click HERE to watch this on YouTube and subscribe to my channel. Are you celebrating Valentine's Day? I had a such a nice morning…. DramaQueen gave me my favourite chocolate(marshmallow) and my husband gave me a gorgeous charm.
I created this glittery Valentine card using hand drawn and cut elements designed with the new Brother ScanNCut machine.
The scalloped mat in the background is also from the ScanNCut library of basic shapes.
I also drew the nesting heart, starting with one heart and then scanned and resized it on the ScanNCut to make 2 more smaller hearts. All the paper is Core'dinations Colorcore card stock. I used both the Glitter Couture Stack and Glitter Silks Stack in 6 x 6.
The glitter paper is perfect for Valentine cards! Here is my hand drawn "Love Arrow" SVG file for you to download for free. Just click on the word "Download".
A big thank you to my wonderful scrappy friend Sandra who came up with the idea of adding the arrow elements to my "Love" word art! I also have a video with a tutorial on how to use the ScanNCut to design this card. So, honestly, this is my first digital cutting file I've designed, so if it doesn't work for you, I apologize and promise to figure it out and fix it!
I hope you enjoy this cutting file and please share where you got it if you do create with it!
When Thanksgiving comes around, I try to think of ways to make my dining room table look special for our family meal. I decided to make some place cards, and this is what I came up with...
This project is being featured on the Canadian Scrapbooker blog this week, so to see the complete photo step-by-step tutorial and supply list, please click HERE.
Thanksgiving is also a time for me to think about what I am grateful for in my life.
I'd have to say my family is definitely number one, and I'm especially enjoying the changing relationships among my children. Meaning....there is less squabbling! Ha!
I'm also thankful for the teaching opportunities I've had lately. Canadian Scrapbooker magazine has opened up some new possibilities for me, and I love teaching at events as part of their DT. Designing and writing for the magazine is the best thing that has happened to me in the past few years.
Teaching classes is a joy, and I'm grateful to be able to teach classes locally. In fact, my next class is offered at Treasured Memories on October 29. Here is a look...
The Kaisercraft photo display frame looks beautiful with the Take Note collection. There are a few fun techniques thrown in, with some cool copper metallic elements. Click HERE to register for my class.
The pictures are my kids from last Fall.....and I'm still trying to round them up before the leaves blow away for this year's photo shoot. Ack. It's like herding cats! I might resort to threats soon.
I wish you and your families a very blessed and Happy Thanksgiving!
If some of you are fans of Canadian Scrapbooker magazine and follow their blog, then you know I've been writing updates on the new releases from the Create & Connect trade show in Las Vegas that took place 2 weeks ago. Today on their blog I share this layout, plus some wonderful photos of the amazing displays in the FabScraps booth.
The design is based on Sue Sykes' August sketch for the Sketchy Challenge.
I made a video to show how I designed this page, and you'll also see how I altered the chipboard title and created that cool circle element with a Crafters Workshop stencil.
It's all on the Canadian Scrapbooker blog, so click HERE to head over there now.
Today I have two video tutorials posted on the ScrapThat! blog using the wonderful July kit. The first technique I share is how to create a simple tulle flower that is on my vintage wedding layout.
On my second layout, I used the Prima stamp and Smooch ink from the kit to alter these scrabble tiles for my title:
So stop by the ScrapThat! blog by clicking HERE and enjoy the videos!
It finally seems that the rainy days are over and the sun is shining! I thought I'd make some pretty suncatchers to make the most of the sunlight. These can be placed in plant or flower pots either indoors or out, but they are partly paper, so they are not 'rain friendly' !
All the crafty instructions on how to make these are up on the Crafty Power blog today. They are really easy to put together....even kids could make them! There is also a video, so stop by there and take a look. Click HERE to find the butterflies! Hope you are enjoying the weekend and catching some sun wherever you are!
Welcome to ScrapThat's July Kit Reveal and Blog Hop!!
Here are my two layouts designed with the gorgeous July kit, featuring Pink Paislee's "Hope Chest" collection.
Both of my pages are for my mother's vintage album, which I will give to her on her birthday next November. In the design for "Play" I wanted to capture the essence of childhood, using that adorable little girl image fussy cut from the paper.
The bride in this photo is my mother's cousin Mary, and my mother is standing to the left of her. I just love looking at old wedding photos and admire the lovely vintage dresses. This layout is based on Amarilys' July sketch, and I made a video to show how my design came together. Click HERE to watch the video on YouTube or simply click on the 'play' button on the video below.
However, I do have some sad news: this is my last month as ScrapThat's Video Educator, and I am saying Farewell.

....who is also the best grandfather ever.
He was always playful...
...telling jokes...
...gentle and generous.
Now at the age of 88, he suffers from the late stages of Alzheimers.
He has forgotten almost everything, but I refuse to forget the happy memories he has given us.
