Here is the December sketch by Sue Sykes for the Canadian Scrapbooker Sketchy Challenge...

And here is my layout, featuring Bo Bunny's "Snow Day" collection and photos of BabyOfThe Family playing outside about 8 years ago...
"Let it Snow" |
I loved going to the park with my children in winter, where we would toboggan, make snow angels and forts. I miss those rosy cheeks and lips and snowy good times!
Actually, BoyGenius and a huge group of friends went tobogganing one Friday night not too long ago. I thought "Yay! He's 17 and still plays outside!" Until his friends' neighbours called the cops because they were being too loud. Sigh.
For my layout, I used my Big Shot and a fantastic Spellbinders die set, as well as a Tim Holtz Sizzix die, the new accordion snowflake....
This die set of snowflakes is AWESOME! |
Harmonie Mosaic Tiles are glued along the edges of the title...
I punched holes and threaded May Arts ribbon along the top of my large banner background...
The ribbon is also tied into a bow on my journaling tag...
I think this Bo Bunny collection has a wonderfully unique colour palette....the surprising yellow and green look awesome with the teal, blue and cream.
I don't think I've ever made a winter page with a green background, but I'm glad I did!
I hope you're going to play along with this month's Sketchy Challenge! Click HERE to visit the gallery for lots of inspiration!
Hope you're enjoying the snow a little in your part of the world :)
oh this is just so so gorgeous LOVE those tiles and the snowflakes rock!
ReplyDeleteThe green totally jumped out at me from this collection Kelly! Who the heck would think to put green with winter ...but boy, does it work. Gorgeous take on this month's sketch...that's it ... I gotta gp play with this new sketch.Soooo cool how you added the tiles to the title piece and love how it echos the angles of the banners behind the photo. Home run my friend!
ReplyDeleteI totally love this layout. The colours are so refreshing for winter and I love that snowflake rosette die from Tim Holtz and the way you placed the mosaic tiles on the title. Awesome job! Love the sketch too :) .
ReplyDeleteVery pretty handwriting you have. Funny about the cops! Happened to the best of us! Love the dotted green background, design and BOF photos.

I so love your projects and the stories behind them. I love all your details and the close ups. Your techniques astound me. I miss those days too of going to the park in winter, skating, tobogganing, all the fun kids things we did. Now..I can maybe catch them running to their cars in winter! Maybe if we hid money in the snowbanks we could encourage them to get out and play in the snow!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful & fresh layout! The green background works so well with the blue paper and really accents your daughter's rosy cheeks. I have to say that I would rather be inside, looking at pictures of snow, than being outside in it.
ReplyDeleteNo snow for us but lot's of rain! The concept of snow and playing outside still seems so fun and memorable! You page is so wintry fun! Those snowflakes are fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteloved so gorgouse page

Your work makes me smile as do your words. As I am reading about BoyGenius tobogganing I am reminded of my BoyWonder's [also 17] Facebook comment: "midnight tobogganing...because we can!"
