I went to a funeral yesterday.  Colleen was 49 when she passed away last week after battling cancer for a year. It is beyond tragic.

I hate funerals, but this one was especially tough....because she is a mother, and her two daughters are teenagers.   Her younger daughter is my youngest daughter's best friend.

It makes me realize how precious my children are...
and many days I wish they were little again...

Playing with blocks and not driving cars....
Not graduating from high school....
or wearing make-up...
Just sitting on the floor....
...and not walking away from me yet.

I joke around a fair bit about raising children, especially teenagers, but I'm the one with separation anxiety now, and I'm not ready to let them go.  I hope they are patient with could take awhile....and a lot of scrapbooking.

  1. Kelly, how sad that is! I really feel for the family. I feel much like you do, except I have gone through the separation of the oldest 2. It is hard, and yes things change, but you know, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I love the photo of you and the kids! What a good looking bunch you are!

  2. Definitely a tragedy and such an unfair part of life.. My daughter is only 6 and I'm already wishing she would slow down and stay my baby. Everyday I notice some new independent streak and it breaks my heart :( Hugs to you

  3. So sorry to hear about the loss of your friend :(

I feel the same way about my children as you do about yours, they grow up too fast and sometimes I wish they were little again :(

  4. Oh Kelly, I am hearing too many tragic stories like this... yes our lives are so precious!

  5. Such a precious group! You too Kelly! Sorry about your friend.

  6. Isn't it sad that it takes something so tragic to open our eyes and make us stop . pause, and realize just how precious life is. Big hugs dear friend

  7. Kelly. Big hugs. So very very hard to lose somebody, no matter what the age. There is such a big hole where they used to be. :-(

  8. Hi Kelly - I completely understand that feeling of loss and treasuring all that is precious. My older daughter just graduated from college -- how the time flies.
