Although I'm finished making Christmas cards, I thought I'd share a trio that I designed for the Winter issue of Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine:
I used the gorgeous St. Nicholas collection from Kaisercraft. The wood elements and ribbons are also Kaisercraft.
This card is my favourite, but the fussy cutting was not my favourite!
Have you picked up the Winter 2013 issue of Canadian Scrapbooker yet? There are many more Christmas cards and layouts in there to inspire you!

A Christmas Class
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
I've been having a wonderful time designing classes using Kaisercraft paper and products. Here is my latest creation, a 12" X 12" Christmas photo display frame:
I used the beautiful vintage "St Nicholas" collection:
There are some fun techniques involved….like the 3D metallic heart, the frosted glass window and the doily tree.
If you're in the area, I hope you can join me! Click HERE to visit the Treasured Memories blog, learn more about this class and register.

It Was A ScrapFest!
I've just returned home from a wonderful weekend in Oshawa, Ontario, teaching classes at ScrapFest.
Here are my layouts from my "Double the Fun" sketch class, sponsored by Fancy Pants Designs...

And my lovely assistant, Tara...
Thank you to all....Fancy Pants Designs for sponsoring my class and donating door prizes....everyone who attended...and Tara was awesome and worked so hard cleaning and scraping embossing powder off my ridiculously messy non-stick craft mats!
I also taught a class called "From Simple to Sensational" featuring Kaisercraft papers. First, we created a simpler, masculine double layout...
...and then a more advanced shabby chic layout with lots of techniques...
Here is a pic of the wonderful ladies in this class and my sweet and helpful Assistant, Cory-Lynn...
I'll tell you all about the third class, along with some exciting news later next week!
All of you scrapbookers in Ontario are so lucky to be able to attend ScrapFest, where you can crop, shop and take classes for two glorious days.
Lisa (above right) and Sandra & Crew organize an amazing event, and it is an instructor's dream to teach classes there.
My flight partner and fun-loving roommate was Cathie Allan, who wore many hats as instructor, booth worker and Technique Taster teacher / caped crusader.
Cathie can put a smile on anyone's face !
Karen Ellis and her daughter Emily were busy bees setting up and working in the Canadian Scrapbooker booth. Karen also taught Technique Tasters and thrilled everyone with her artistry and lively lessons.
I didn't get to spend much time at all in the booth because I was mostly in the classroom. But I know that Karen and Cathie definitely had "fun" together!
It's impossible not to have fun at ScrapFest! I enjoyed meeting everyone and hope to have the opportunity to attend again next year!

Thankful
When Thanksgiving comes around, I try to think of ways to make my dining room table look special for our family meal. I decided to make some place cards, and this is what I came up with...
This project is being featured on the Canadian Scrapbooker blog this week, so to see the complete photo step-by-step tutorial and supply list, please click HERE.
Thanksgiving is also a time for me to think about what I am grateful for in my life.
I'd have to say my family is definitely number one, and I'm especially enjoying the changing relationships among my children. Meaning....there is less squabbling! Ha!
I'm also thankful for the teaching opportunities I've had lately. Canadian Scrapbooker magazine has opened up some new possibilities for me, and I love teaching at events as part of their DT. Designing and writing for the magazine is the best thing that has happened to me in the past few years.
Teaching classes is a joy, and I'm grateful to be able to teach classes locally. In fact, my next class is offered at Treasured Memories on October 29. Here is a look...
The Kaisercraft photo display frame looks beautiful with the Take Note collection. There are a few fun techniques thrown in, with some cool copper metallic elements. Click HERE to register for my class.
The pictures are my kids from last Fall.....and I'm still trying to round them up before the leaves blow away for this year's photo shoot. Ack. It's like herding cats! I might resort to threats soon.
I wish you and your families a very blessed and Happy Thanksgiving!

Classes, Classes and More Classes!
With the end of August in sight, I will get back to writing more blog posts and bid a sad farewell to our lazy summer days. But I am excited for September too because I have some wonderful classes coming up.
On September 10, I am teaching a "Summer Layout Workshop" at Treasured Memories...
If you would like to get those summer photos into albums, then join me and learn some fun stencil techniques as well!
If you live in Alberta, you have probably heard of this fantastic event hosted by Canadian Scrapbooker magazine: The Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival...
I will be teaching a layout class in both Edmonton and Calgary called "Double the Fun"...
Using some fun new Fancy Pants Designs products, we will use one of my sketches and a few cool techniques to create 3 double or 6 single page layouts.
Click HERE to learn more about the Carnival and register. It's a really great time with lots of awesome classes!
In October, I will be teaching at ScrapFest in Oshawa.
I'm SO excited to be invited to this event and cannot wait to meet up with all the Ontario scrappers there!
Along with "Double the Fun", I will have 2 other classes as well:
In my class "From Simple To Sensational", we will create 2 double page layouts, learning how to embellish a basic design with lots of extra special elements.
The third class is a travel mini album, featuring the wonderful Simple Stories "Urban Traveler" collection:
Click HERE to register for my classes at ScrapFest.
Although September means an end to summer, I'm really looking forward to getting back into the classroom. Hope to see you there!

Double the Fun with Kaisercraft
The Summer issue of Canadian Scrapbooker has hit the newsstands and the Fall call for submissions is over....which means that I have a new Double the Fun sketch and layout for Winter 2013! [I know, I know....the "W" word should not be uttered at this time of the year]
Here is my sample layout and sketch, which you will see on the Home Page of the Canadian Scrapbooker website:
I used the beautiful "Elegance" collection from Kaisercraft for these photos of DramaQueen and one of her best friends, Lauren. They were all dressed up to go out for dinner together. Ah...to be sixteen again!
This layered title is actually a combination of sticker elements from a few different Kaisercraft collections, along with the pretty leafy wood embellishment.
I added some Kaisercraft pearls to highlight the journaling stickers. Don't you love these 'faux' Dymo label stickers from the Kaisercraft "Pickled Pear" collection?
The feathers are fussy cut from a piece of "Elegance" patterned paper called "Paper Pure."
The gold doilies are from The Dollar Store, and the border punch is EK Success/Martha Stewart.
You have lots of time to work on your double layout and submit it for publishing! Have fun :)

A Card and a Class
Once in awhile, I do a blog post for Canadian Scrapbooker called "Tuesday With the Team."
Last week, I shared a card I designed using Sizzix dies and embossing folders with Core'dinations ColorCore card stock.
There are more close-ups and a video tutorial on how I made this card on the Canadian Scrapbooker blog.
Click HERE to see that post and watch the video.
I also have some exciting news about a class I am teaching on June 13 at Treasured Memories. There are limited spots, so register now if you are interested.
I have had such wonderful feedback about a similar Kaisercraft photo display that I designed a few weeks ago, that I decided to make it into a class. Click HERE to see my other Photo Display project.
If some of you are wondering where I will be teaching in the future, I wanted to let you know that I will now be an independent instructor. So I will have classes at a variety of stores and events, which I will announce here on my blog and on Facebook.
I have lots of class ideas and opportunities coming up, so stay tuned.....

She Sparkles!
My daughter turned 16 this year, and I've been making a few layouts to commemorate this special time in her life.
I used the new Kaisercraft "Remember Me" collection....a beautiful palette of red and black and tan.
The design is based on the Kaisercraft May Saturday Sketch #1 Challenge.
On the Crafty Power Blog, I shared the simple technique of how to "wear your adhesive on the outside" by using black glitter with my Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Crafty Power Tape to create a sparkly border along my stamped lace edges.
It's hard to see the sparkle, but it looks so pretty in real life!
Click HERE to visit the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L blog to see my step-by-step photo tutorial on how I made this glittery border.
I created this layout during a beautiful weekend away on a Scrapbooking retreat, nestled in the Rockie Mountains, at the wonderful Bull River Guest Ranch.
No, I didn't pluck them fresh off the birds....I found the feathers while walking around the grounds one sunny afternoon and added them to my layout.
The "S" is glittered too with Craft&Glitz black glitter.
All of the pretty wood embellishments are Kaisercraft also, and I punched those scallop circles with an EK Success punch.
The heart pin is Maya Road (kindly given to me from Connie Nichol who was scrapping across the table).
In reality, I said, "Hey Connie, your Diamond Glaze bottle is plugged...so she gave me a pin to clear the tip....and never got the pin back because I popped it onto my layout!" Ha ha! Thank you Connie for all the wood embellies too :)
When I saw the Kaisercraft Saturday sketch, I thought I'd give my daughter some advice in terms of journaling and found the PERFECT Kaisercraft Rub-ons from the "In the Attic" collection. I LOVE these quotations!
The 'Remember' arrow is a Technique Tuesday stamp.....and there is a funny story behind that too! Another friend from Canadian Scrapbooker magazine, Katharina Doyle, was sitting nearby, and I cannot even remember why I went to talk with her...but I ended up pulling some stamped arrows out of her trash bin! Yep, dumpster diving for layout embellishments!
I might as well admit that the rest of the Canadian Scrapbooker team helped me out too: Jackie Ludlage gave me the Crafty Power Tape and black glitter. Oh, and Cathie Allan let me borrow her stamping block. Oops...the scallop punches weren't mine either (I forget whose!)
I guess this layout is truly a group effort! Don't you just love scrapbook retreats and crops??
