New Double the Fun!

My new Double the Fun layout and sketch are up on the Canadian Scrapbooker website for your scrapbooking entertainment!  And yes....this is for the SPRING 2014 page call.  Yikes.

I took these pics of BabyOfTheFamily and her sweet friend "B" while they were making flower headbands for their friends, one weekend afternoon a couple of months ago.  These two girls together always have so much fun, and they are both really crafty, which makes me happy :)

The yellow background papers are DCWV, but everything else is from Webster's Pages (papers, stickers, twine, resin).

I just love the fresh patterns and colours of this Allison Kreft "Composition & Color" collection and already have plans for future layouts!

A Very Special Kiss

The lovely "Palm Beach" collection from Webster's Pages was in our staff challenge August kit at The Urban Scrapbook.

This pretty pastel colour palette could be used for a number of themes...summer, beach, ocean, travel, tropical....and so on.

I chose to scrapbook a photo of BabyOfTheFamily and her first kiss....with a dolphin :)

The background base is actually cream cardstock that I inked with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink (new Spring Limited Edition ink), and I wavy cut the bottom edge...

 The second background layer is blue Bazzill cardstock, which I altered "mixed media" style with a Crafter's Workshop Stencil and some Gesso (by Claudine Hellmuth/Ranger).

I used the centre hexagon shaped part of the stencil along the edges of the background and applied the gesso with a paint brush.

Even my bathroom counter was altered with this hexagon stencil when I set it down to dry. 

HINT:  Wash off gesso carefully immediately after use.

 

I cut these banners from the WP chevron patterned paper and edged with Peacock Distress ink, then curled into wavy shapes using a pencil.

The Distress Ink also helped me alter this WP pink ribbon...

A quick and easy colour change with ink.

I used more ink, white paint and Clear Rock Candy Stickles to transform the chipboard fish...

The fish were cut from an Accucut die at The Urban Scrapbook.  They have a huge assortment of dies for customers to use!

The waves are cut freehand, edged with ink then curled slightly for dimension.

This border is painted with Patina, which is an opaque ink that colours metal and non-porous elements. 

 I wanted some of the gold gems to show through so I rubbed off some Patina before it was dry.

A fine-tipped paint brush helped me colour the WP gem border sticker with Ranger Patina "Verdigris"

The umbrella is fussy cut from one of the Webster's papers.

The first part of the title is stamped onto white Bazzill cardstock with Graphic45's Typewriter Alphabet stamp set...
 

The word "kiss" is created with DIY American Craft Thickers..

These Thickers have an adhesive top, which you can peel off and then add whatever you like to alter them....

 I added Craft & Glitz Glitter....

First I cut apart the letters I wanted to glitter.

Next, I removed the top adhesive backing and poured on the glitter.

After rubbing the glitter into the adhesive tops of the letters, I brushed them off completely.

....And then stuck these gorgeous glittery letters onto my page!

 I think I will invent a Glitter Vacuum...to deal with the aftermath of microfine glitter sparkling EVERYWHERE in my studio :)

The clean-up is the worst part, isn't it?

Webster's Pages Say Summer!

When Webster's Pages introduced their new Clean & Simple paper collections, I said YES!  Yes to the same beautiful quality paper and yes to the solid patterns and backsides!  (Having a solid backside myself, I was pretty excited about this design change:)

I thought the  wonderful "Sunday Picnic" line would be perfect for my June Sketchy Challenge for Canadian Scrapbooker.

Sweet Summertime

The journaling strips are on top of a Magenta chipboard sun, which I first painted yellow and then sprinkled clear iridescent Craft & Glitz glitter on top while the paint was still wet. 

For my title, I put the Webster's alphabet stickers on small die cut scalloped circles that I cut with my Cricut.  The large orange scalloped flower layer behind the photo is also cut with my Cricut.  The pink butterfly is a wonderful Martha Stewart Punch layered over a solid butterfly shape I cut in the shape of the punch.  Martha also helped with the the punched scalloped borders.


The orange paper surprised me....I rarely use orange in my designs, but I think it does make this page brighter and happier...just like summer :)

Canadian Scrapbooker February Sketchy Challenge

I don't know how Jill Sarginson manages to come up with a fantastic sketch every month for the Canadian Scrapbooker magazine Sketchy Challenge....but she does!  This month's design is so sweet and romantic....

....so I had to follow suit with a layout of the Hubby and moi....

Who does romance better than Prima and Webster's Pages?

Not too  many of these couple pics floating around!  DramaQueen shot this on the day of our 22nd Anniversary last August.  It's probably one of the few anniversaries that I have a photo of us (GASP!)

My original title was "True Love after 22 years" and when I showed Hubby the layout, he said, "What?? It took you 22 years to love me?!?!?"  lol.  So I added "still" in front of "true love" (thank heavens for alpha stickers!)

Here are some close ups....

The Harmonie laser cut chipboard flower on right is painted black with Distress Stain.

 All of the  little green scalloped embossed hearts are made from a Stampin Up Sizzix die.

Here's a vellum quotation from Quick Quotes.The embossed leaves are another Sizzix die.

All of the butterflies and flowers are Prima. Prima makes romance EASY.

I really like this fun pic of hubby and I because it shows how we share lots of laughter....which is why our relationship works.

Well, maybe it also works because he thinks my scrapbooking is pretty cool. ha ha!

DramaQueen told him that at school last week, they had to list things they are confident about.....and she told the teacher she was confident that her parents would never get a divorce. 

I think that's pretty cool too :)
