Inspired by Authentique Paper

Since the release of Authentique Paper two weeks ago, I am totally smitten with all 3 collections and can't wait to see more!  I created this fairly simple single page layout of BOF (BabyOfTheFamily).  She is definitely "Uncommon" and makes us smile and giggle every day.  She is truly a blessing!

I cut this scalloped edge from one of the patterned papers and used this lovely pink Making Memories ribbon to frame the page....

The teeny journaling tags are from the Uncommon die-cut sheet, and the words are from their "Diction" sticker sheet.

The flower petals are cut from the same paper that I cut into large scallops edging the page.  I added a button from My Mind's Eye "Lost & Found" collection.

In honour of Canada Day, I added a Melissa Frances (Canadian designer!!) frame....well, this was actually just a happy coincidence and good timing! lol!

Next up...the blue line from Authentique Paper called "Journey" !!

July 1....a day to reflect on what it means to be Canadian (cue National Anthem music in background).

I have to tell you about a very special event that happened to BOF and me in May.  We met the PRIME MINISTER!!!  at a sports event.  Yes, I was a bit of a stalker and approached him for a photo, thinking "Isn't this going to be the most amazing bit of Show & Tell that my daughter could bring in to show her teacher and class!!"

Let me tell you, when his baby blues met my browns, I felt a teeny thrill of a crush going on! (Do NOT think Monica Lewinsky, people!)

The PM's official photographer actually took this photo and gave me a little official business card with a number.  I was supposed to email his office my number and then they emailed me this official photo! Yay!

So when I got the photo, I was soooo excited and printed it off and gave it to BOF.  Her reaction was less than enthused,  "No Mom, I don't want to take this to school. It's not like he's Justin Bieber or anything."

What?!?!? A momentous photo like this and she doesn't want to show it to all her friends???

I asked my friend Photoshop for help, and this is what we came up with....

I just hope the "Feds" don't come after me for this :)

School's Out!

It's the last week of school, and I always have mixed feelings about the summer break.

Noooooooooooooo!!!

YAY!  We get to sleep in!
BOO!  Gone are my peaceful mornings ALONE with my tea.

YAY! No more making 4 bag lunches every day (that get thrown out at school).
BOO! I'll be in the kitchen at all hours because the kids will be eating at all hours.

YAY!  I won't be rushing to the bus stop or driving kids in morning traffic to school.
BOO!  All day long, I'll be the Mom Taxi ...without tips.

YAY!  No more projects, tests or homework!
BOO!  Two months of "Mom, I'm BORED" and "I have NOTHING to do!"

YAY!  The kids will be home with me for 2 months!
BOO!  The kids will be home with me for 2 months!

I have a remedy...

The Fabulous New Authentique Paper!

Since my original plan for this blog was to share my passion for scrapbooking, then maybe it's time for me to post a layout.  I was thrilled last week when I laid my eyes....and hands...on the gorgeous new collection by Margie Romney-Aslett called Authentique Paper.  Gosh, these papers are lovely to work with, and I did a two-page display layout for my local store Scrap-A-Lot with the "Blissful" line...isn't that the nicest name? 

Honestly, these papers design themselves! Normally, I'm not a big fan of yellow, but Margie's patterned papers in this palette are truly stunning.  I kept the layout quite simple...which is a big accomplishment for me! hee hee!

Cut out these flowers from the paper and added a black ribbon border...

The bird cage is also cut from the paper, and I placed a Prima black bling flourish behind.
The edges of the background papers are punched with a Martha Stewart border and corner punch.

I inked all the edges with Color Box Charcoal Chalk Ink and added the black Twiddley Bitz chipboard accents...

I wanted to create a layout to remind my children that they mean the world to me, and thus the title "I Love You" with the Tiny Alpha stickers.  These collections come with the most adorable tiny alphas, die cuts, title tags and "Diction" stickers (those are the words I placed beside each photo to describe my kids...luckily I was in a good mood that day!).

And the BEST news is...there are two more lines:  a pink collection called "Uncommon" and a blue collection called "Journey."  They are just as lovely as "Blissful."

Celebrating 50!! A GIVEAWAY!!!

The title could be misleading...it's NOT my birthday and I'm NOT 50!! (although I'm getting there!)

I am celebrating reaching 50 followers!  I do have a bit of trouble saying that I have "followers"....because I'm not too sure how I am the "Leader"  hee hee! I'm still a "baby blogger" and am coming to terms with the blogging world and all that it means.

It's a Fascinating Friday

I have had a wild week, my friends, but my weekend is off to a great start because today I am featured on a wonderful blog called Paperie Designs' Studio.  I'd like to thank Alia Mohammed, my buddy at Scrapbook.com and DT member at Paperie, who finds me "fascinating."  Thanks also to Noor Nahdi, the designer and owner of Paperie Designs....check out Noor's beautiful cards!  She is so talented!
